A brilliant philosopher, she converted to Catholicism at the age of 31 and entered the Carmel of Cologne in 1933. She suffered martyrdom at the hand of the Nazis in 1942. Her feastday is August 9. |

Saint Maravillas of Jesus Maravillas, whose name means "marvelous", was born in Madrid, Spain in the year 1891. She is the most recently canonized Carmelite saint (2003). Her feastday is December 11. |
